Of course I've been involved in many exhibitions over the years, and while it is enormously gratifying to show to people who are genuinely interested and respectful, I have been fortunate enough to work mostly to commission and
became very disillutioned with the whole pretentious and frankly exploitative process.
To have the ideas, invest in the materials, etc. and support one's self during production.
~That's the job.
To then be expected to provide framing, transportation, insurance, publicity, etc., deal with that particular brand of mundane and tiresome intellectual superiority complex, be obsequious, pay extortionate commission fees and be grateful for it.
